Dry Ice Blasting Services

Non-Abrasive, Chemical-Free Cleaning for Sensitive Surfaces

Dry ice blasting is a cutting-edge cleaning process that uses compressed air to propel solid carbon dioxide (CO2) pellets at high speed against a surface. On impact, the pellets sublimate — transitioning directly from solid to gas — which lifts contaminants from the surface without abrasion, moisture, or chemical residue.

The result is a thorough, precision clean that leaves zero secondary waste. No spent media to sweep up. No water to manage. No chemical residue to neutralize. Just a clean surface, ready for its next step.

Cleaner Finish Mobile Blasting brings dry ice blasting directly to your location across Central Massachusetts and New England.

HOW IT WORKS

How Dry Ice Blasting Works

Dry ice pellets are loaded into a specialized blasting machine and accelerated by compressed air through a nozzle onto the target surface. Three things happen simultaneously:

01

Kinetic energy:

The pellets strike the contaminant at high velocity, cracking and loosening the bond between the coating and the substrate.

02

Thermal shock:

The extreme cold of the dry ice (–109°F / –78.5°C) causes the contaminant to contract and separate from the surface.

03

Sublimation:

The pellets convert from solid to gas upon impact, expanding to 800 times their original volume. This micro-explosion further lifts the contaminant away from the surface.

Because the dry ice sublimates completely, the only thing left to clean up is the contaminant itself. There is no spent media, no water runoff, and no added chemical waste.

WHAT WE Clean

What Dry Ice Blasting Cleans

  • Grease, oil, and carbon buildup
  • Adhesive and glue residue
  • Mold and mildew contamination
  • Smoke and fire damage residue
  • Paint and light coatings (on appropriate surfaces)
  • Flux and weld spatter
  • Food residue and biological contamination
  • Electrical and electronic component contamination

COMMON USES

Ideal Applications for Dry Ice Blasting

Automotive & Restoration

Engine bays, undercarriages, suspension components, transmission housings, and classic car restoration where preserving delicate surfaces and factory finishes is essential.

Industrial Equipment & Machinery

Production line cleaning, CNC machine maintenance, printing equipment, injection molds, electrical panels, and motor cleaning — without disassembly and without moisture.

Food & Beverage Processing

Ovens, conveyors, mixers, packaging lines, and cold storage surfaces. Dry ice blasting is food-safe and can be performed without shutting down adjacent production lines.

Fire & Mold Remediation

Smoke damage cleanup, mold contamination removal from structural surfaces, and odor elimination from porous materials — without introducing chemicals or moisture that could worsen the problem.

Historical & Delicate Restoration

Stone facades, historical woodwork, ornamental metalwork, and heritage structures where preserving the substrate is as important as removing the contaminant.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Dustless Blasting vs. Dry Ice Blasting

Cleaner Finish offers two professional blasting methods — each suited to different surfaces and project types. Here's how they compare, and when to use each.

DUSTLESS MEDIA BLASTING

Advanced Surface Prep Without the Mess

Dustless media blasting combines water and abrasive media in a controlled stream that strips coatings, rust, paint, and surface contaminants without producing the dust clouds associated with traditional sandblasting. The result is a cleaner, safer process that's effective on a wide range of surfaces — from delicate wood and brick to heavy-duty steel and concrete.

Best for: paint and rust removal from metal, wood, brick, and concrete; residential exteriors; automotive frames; graffiti removal; pool and driveway restoration.

DRY ICE BLASTING

Non-Abrasive Cleaning for Sensitive Surfaces

Dry ice blasting uses compressed air to propel solid CO2 pellets against a surface. On impact, the pellets sublimate — turning directly from solid to gas — which lifts contaminants from the surface without abrasion, moisture, or secondary waste.

Best for: sensitive electronics, engine bays, classic vehicle restoration, food-grade equipment, industrial machinery, mold remediation, and historical restoration.

Our Benefits

Benefits of Dry Ice Blasting

  • Non-abrasive: Will not damage, pit, or profile the surface
  • No moisture: Safe for electronics, wiring, motors, and water-sensitive substrates
  • Chemical-free: No solvents, no chemicals, no harmful residue
  • Zero secondary waste: Only the contaminant remains for disposal
  • Reduces downtime: Clean in-place without disassembly in many applications
  • Environmentally responsible: CO2 pellets are reclaimed, not produced
